Adult Education

GED
The Adult Education program isn’t just another GED preparation program. In addition to preparing for the GED, the program features career pathways that include manufacturing and healthcare fields that are in demand in our area. Students learn about the skills needed, the education and training available, and prepare to transition into ICC programs.
GED preparation classes cover all subject areas found on the GED test and are free. These classes are made possible from a grant from the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) and offered through ICC’s Adult Education Program. Class enrollment is first come; first served and at the beginning and midterm of each semester. Classes are offered at the East Peoria, Peoria, and Pekin campuses along with several sites around our community. Class schedules and times vary by site. English as a Second Language
Free beginning through advanced ESL classes are offered at the ICC Peoria Campus and begin in August and January. Call (309) 690‑6827 for more information.
Teen Express
Are you 16 or 17 years old? Teen Express is the program for you! This 2-day afternoon program is fast-paced and customized to teens, providing them with the tools to pass their GED and enter post-secondary education!
I-Pathways
Can’t get to one of our classes because of transportation issues or babysitting problems? Try out our online GED preparation called i-Pathways. You must have a 10th grade reading level or higher to qualify. Students can only enroll during the set phone-in registration dates.
Early College

High school juniors and seniors can earn both college credit and credit toward their high school diploma by taking Early College classes for dual credit at their school. Through an agreement with ICC, some schools also allow students to take college classes at an ICC campus. Contact your high school counselor to see what is available at your school.
Honors Program

Illinois Central College’s Honors Program exists to broaden and deepen the educational experience of academically qualified students through sustained intellectual and social interaction within a community of other high achieving students. Honors designated sections of courses are smaller in order to promote deeper student-to-student and student-to-faculty interaction. They emphasize active learning through class activities such as in-depth discussion, scholarly research, writing, presentations, and creative production. In addition, students receive recognition on their transcripts for honors classes completed, and have the opportunity to earn a further special transcript designation if all requirements for the Honors Program are completed.
Any student who meets the following criteria is eligible to participate in the Honors Program:
Current ICC students (both part-time and full-time) who have completed a minimum of 9 credit hours (not 9 classes) of transfer level courses and who have a cumulative ICC GPA of 3.5 or above
Students coming directly from high school who have completed a minimum of 9 credit hours of transfer level courses (including dual credit) and who have a cumulative ICC GPA of 3.5 or above
Students coming directly from high school have NOT completed a minimum of 9 credit hours in transfer level courses (including dual credit) must have at least one of the following:
ACT Composite 25 or above
SAT composite 1200 or above
High School Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above
To remain in the program, the Honors student must maintain a cumulative ICC GPA of 3.5 or above.
In addition to participation in the Honors Program, highly qualified students may compete for one of 50 Honors Program full-tuition waivers by completing a tuition waiver application. In order to apply for a tuition waiver, students must have one of the following:
ACT composite 25 or above
SAT composite 1200 or above

International Education

The mission of International Education is to provide all ICC stakeholders various programming dedicated to preparing our community to responsibly participate in an increasing global workforce and intercultural communities. This objective is addressed through institutional collaborations to create global learning outcomes, increase international programming for our community, provide a welcoming community for our nonimmigrant students and bring the world to all of our ICC students through global initiatives dedicated to increasing accessibility, diversity and inclusion.
International Education provides advising for national/international scholarships and fellowships (such as the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS), Gilman International Scholarship, Boren National Security Fellowships, and Peace Corps), host guest lectures on international topics as well as coordinate programming for the US Department of State and US Department of Education joint initiative: International Education Week.
Students and faculty are also able to participate in summer/semester program study abroad programs and faculty exchanges through the Illinois Consortium of International Study Programs (ICISP) where students earn transferable ICC credit. Through these programs, all ICC students are able to participate in programming at any of the following locations: Canterbury, England; Carlow, Ireland; Spain; Salzburg, Austria; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Dijon, France (varies). To be eligible for these programs, students must have completed a minimum of 15 hours with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75. Final determination of acceptance rests with ICC.

ICC offers opportunities to earn a degree or certificate completely through online classes. For more information, contact the Admissions office. Illinois Central College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. ICC earned accreditation for Distance Education in 2003.
Illinois Central College has been approved by Illinois to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. Out-of-state enrollment limitations may apply to some students. Call for more information.
Enrollment in BIOL 110 online is limited to US students only. Due to restrictions on shipping the course’s required lab kit, only students based in the US can enroll in BIOL 110 – Life Science online. Contact the Admissions office for more information.
While ICC offers these programs as fully online, some classes might require proctored exams. ICC faculty will provide students with options at ICC, and at a distance, to fulfill the requirements of proctored exams when required by the instructor in some online classes. Most MATH and BIOL online classes do require proctored exams. Contact the class instructor for more information.
COMM 212 online requires students to participate in live, online speech delivery. The class schedule will note the day and time requirement for live, synchronous online speech sessions.
