DECONSTRUCTION COURSES (DECON)

DECON 101 - INTRODUCTION TO DECONSTRUCTION

This course will introduce the basic practice of building deconstruction and building materials (architectural and structural) salvage including key resources and considerations.

DECON 102 - DECONSTRUCTION METHODS AND MATERIALS

Prerequisite: DECON 101 with a grade of "C" or better or concurrent enrollment or department approval. This course will introduce typical residential and light commercial construction methods, structural systems and building material assemblies.

2 Credit Hours (OC) - Lecture Hours: 1 Laboratory Hours: 2

DECON 103 - PRINCIPLES OF DECONSTRUCTION ASSESSMENT

Prerequisite: DECON 101 and DECON 102 with a "C" or better or concurrent. This course will introduce the key components of site assessment, project planning and market considerations of building deconstruction and building material salvage.

DECON 104 - DECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Prerequisite: DECON 101 and DECON 102 with a grade of "C" or better, concurrent enrollment in DECON 103 or department approval. This course will provide hands-on deconstruction experience in the laboratory and/or in the field.
